Updated May 5, 2022

***As soon as Disney releases dates for 2022, this post volition be updated. I'm guessing the season will start Nov four or 11 of 2022.

What's more than magical than Halloween Time at Disneyland? I dare say Holidays at Disneyland.

Imagine the already understood magic of the park with gingerbread smells piped in, amazing decor everywhere and vacation music playing.

Are you ready?

Discounted Tickets

Get Away Today always has discounted tickets and the absolute best service. For details on what's currently available, check this link.

Or, call them at 855.GET.AWAY, toll free.

In gild to visit Disneyland or Disney California Gamble, you must have both a theme park ticket and a theme park reservation. At that place'due south a lot to know right now. Get Abroad Today has been in business organisation for over 30 years. They were the first agency Disneyland always partnered with! I truly can't say plenty good almost them.

If you don't book with them, definitely employ someone y'all trust. Or, book direct with Disney. The only downfall with booking straight is that you miss out on the advice and planning tools offered with a good bureau similar Get Away Today. Disney simply doesn't accept the staff to show each guest close attention with the entire process. (Which is why I take this task.)

An Overview

From Nov 12, 2021 to Jan 9, 2022, the park transforms in a style you actually have to run into to believe. Beautiful holiday decor adorns every part of the park possible. A sixty foot Christmas tree compliments Main Street with 70,000 lights and 2,000 custom fabricated ornaments. A l human foot Christmas tree sits on Buena Vista Street in California Adventure.

Disneyland Resort is open up 365 days a twelvemonth, and then count on a Christmas visit if you wish, merely know the parks will be super crowded.

Both parks have tree lighting ceremonies at effectually 5pm every mean solar day. Carolers walk the parks with hand bells, singing classic tunes, while the copse come up to life. Information technology'due south a fun event to see if you're close past.

As always, check the entertainment schedule prior to visiting for specifics on each 24-hour interval's events and times for Holidays at Disneyland.

Seasonal Transition

Halloween Fourth dimension ends at the stroke of midnight on October 31 each yr. Cast members will piece of work through the night to take down Halloween decor.

Holiday decor will continue to go up the next twenty-four hour period and volition be completely finished when Holidays at the Disneyland Resort officially begins.

Notation: You'll oft seen Holiday decor going up prior to the end of the Halloween season. This mail shows what Disneyland looked like on Oct 29, 2019 for reference.

Disney Merriest Nites

All new for 2021, Disney Merriest Nites is an afterwards hours, ticketed celebration.

Here'south what we know so far.

I attended the kickoff event on November 12, 2021 and will share more near it asap. Unfortunately, all nights of this upshot are sold out for this year.

How to Ensure You Ride Every Attraction With a Look Time of 20 Minutes or Less

Get in an hour prior to opening and follow my strategies detailed in this post for the nearly efficient way to motility through the park during this busy season.

More info coming on this every bit soon equally Disney Genie launches at Disneyland. Click here for what nosotros know now.

My Ideal Day for You at Disneyland

To be sure you become to enjoy lots of attractions and see all of the express time holiday happenings, follow this programme:

Go far an hour prior to park opening and follow one of my strategies in this mail.

Doing so volition let y'all to get LOTS of attractions done prior to the afternoon, at which betoken I recommend you lot take a intermission from the parks. Become back to your hotel to rest, nap, swim, etc. So, return to the park to follow this plan:

+Take hold of a spot between ii:45pm and 3:00pm anywhere in Town Foursquare to lookout man the 3:00pm parade. (At that place are 2 parades nearly days. The latter is at 5:30pm.) I prefer the earlier one. But! Brand sure you lot're not facing the dominicus where yous ready to lookout man it. I learned this the difficult mode one yr.

+Later on the parade ends, stick effectually for the flag retreat anniversary just subsequently. Information technology'due south ordinarily around 4:30pm and takes place at the flag pole in Boondocks Foursquare, which is the section of the park you walk into later on going through the tunnel on either side. (The three:00pm parade starts near "it's a pocket-size world" and takes a bit to make its style to the front end of the park, where y'all will be if you follow this programme.)

+Effectually 5:00pm, the Disneyland Christmas tree is lit. Watch information technology from Main Street, between the Emporium and the Magic Shop.

+Later on the tree lighting is finished, walk down Principal, veer right before you run across the castle and walk downward the path toward the Matterhorn. Pass the Matterhorn on your correct and head toward "it's a small globe". The kickoff holiday lighting for this attraction happens at 5:15pm each day. You only accept 10 minutes to make information technology there, so no tomfoolery. Focus!

And then, from 3:00pm – 5:30pm, you get to see four awesome experiences. What's left for express time holiday events? The castle lighting (called "wintertime enchantment" on the Disneyland entertainment schedule), fireworks and snow.

Castle lightings are at vii:30pm and viii:30pm. At that place is no need to army camp out for these lightings. Arrive v minutes early and take hold of a spot near the castle so y'all have a good view of the lighting and snow autumn after.

Discover more info on snow here.

Let's review the line up:

3:00pm – Christmas Fantasy Parade
4:30pm – Flag Retreat Ceremony
5:00pm – Christmas Tree Lighting
v:15pm – "information technology's a pocket-size globe" Holiday Lighting
vii:30pm/eight:30pm – Sleeping Beauty Castle Lighting (with snowfall)
9:00pm – Believe in Holiday Magic Fireworks (with snow)

A few notes:

+Town Foursquare is the section at the front end of the park between the Master Street Railroad Station and Primary Street. If yous arrive early enough to grab your spot, run across what'due south bachelor on the platform nigh the actual railroad train station entrance. That expanse gives you a nifty view since yous'll be looking down to see the parade.

+The Flag Retreat Ceremony isn't holiday-related, but I encourage you lot to lookout it. It'south so touching and honors our military beautifully. I think it's a slap-up thing for adults and kids both to witness.

+Nearly days include the times I detailed in a higher place, but some might differ. Please check the entertainment schedule prior to your twenty-four hour period. You tin can find this online at this link. The complimentary Disneyland App also has the guide. Locate it in the drop downwardly bill of fare on the main folio. If you lot don't have the app downloaded already, be certain you exercise earlier your visit. You tin can find information technology at this link.

+Later on this block of events, pause for dinner. Then, refocus on attractions. Catch a castle lighting at 7:30pm or 8:30pm. Lookout fireworks at 9:00pm. Y'all can watch fireworks from in front of the castle, Master Street, near "it's a small world" Holidays, or by the Rivers of America. All of those locations include snow at the end of the show. This post goes into more details almost fireworks at the Disneyland Resort. My favorite place to spotter fireworks is from "it'south a small earth". It's typically less crowded than the other options and I dearest seeing the projections on the "it's a small globe" facade. Arrive thirty minutes prior to the prove to grab a spot. Don't fuss with sitting down or camping out too early. You can watch standing up. Kids volition want to jump effectually during the snow, anyhow.

My Ideal Day for You at California Adventure

California Adventure includes a simpler plan that what you'll observe at Disneyland.

Equally with whatever day, arrive an hour prior to park opening and follow one of my strategies in this post.

This will allow you lot to complete ALL attractions by early afternoon. Once you're finished, return to your hotel room to rest, nap, swim, etc. Then, caput back to DCA early on evening to see the Christmas tree lighting, enjoy the Festival of Holidays, visit Santa Claus, repeat favorite attractions, and to see more holiday entertainment.

Start your afternoon amusement line up with Mickey'south Happy Holidays that starts around iv:00pm. Take hold of this at Carthay Circle. Mickey's Happy Holidays is the live entertainment that floats through the park with the Holiday Toy Drummers leading the style. Information technology's so much fun to meet. The Christmas Tree lighting is at v:00pm each day. No demand to make it early for this. Walk upwardly simply a few minutes prior and brand sure you have a view of the tree. It's located at the end of Buena Vista Street, in forepart of Elias & Company.

Afterward the tree lighting, head to Grizzly Superlative to see Santa at the Redwood Creek Claiming Trail. I much prefer my kids encounter Santa hither rather than Disneyland, equally the set upward is entirely magical. Santa is at DCA from 9:00am to six:45pm. Go here later on the tree lighting so yous don't hazard missing him. I share more than on Santa here.

I also recommend you make time for the Feliz Navidad Street Party.

Disney describes this as:

"Join Donald Duck and his amigos José Carioca and Panchito, "The Three Caballeros," every bit they host the ultimate fiesta for Navidad! This joyous street party features exuberant performances, including accurate folklórico dancers, mariachis, Brazilian samba dancers, drummers and incredible 12-foot-tall mojiganga puppets of Santa and Mrs. Claus, with a special appearance past Mickey and Minnie in their fiesta best!"

This takes place at the following times each day in 2021:

  • ane:45pm
  • 2:45pm
  • 3:45pm
  • 5:15pm
  • vi:15pm
  • 7:15pm

With what I suggested in a higher place – well-nigh focusing on attractions, breaking at your hotel and so returning early evening, I would program on the vii:15pm Viva Navidad Street Party. Arrive 20 minutes early on to grab a spot for viewing. This "street political party" (modest parade-like amusement) is located in the Paradise Gardens area, which is past Ariel'southward Undersea Gamble, on your way toward Goofy's Sky Schoolhouse. While you're in this part of the park, walk through Paradise Gardens to meet more holiday fun.

Earlier and/or after all of the above, Savor Festival of Holidays. I absolutely love this contempo addition to California Take chances. I share all near information technology here.

Let's review the line up for your afternoon/evening at DCA:

  • 4:00pm – Mickey'southward Happy Holidays
  • 5:00pm – Christmas Tree Lighting
  • 5:10pm – outset snow in Grizzly Peak
  • five:15pm – Run into Santa Claus (simply on site until Christmas Eve)
  • 7:15pm – Viva Navidad Street Party
  • Festival of Holidays (food, amusement, etc)

Annotation: Most days include the times I detailed above, just some might differ. Please check the entertainment schedule prior to your day. You can find this online at this link . The free Disneyland App also has the guide. Locate information technology in the drop down menu on the master page. If yous don't have the app downloaded already, be sure you do before your visit. You lot tin find information technology at this link.

Attractions

2 attractions are completely redesigned for the holidays. They're limited fourth dimension. Check them out:

"it's a small world" Holiday – Hear the iconic song from the original ride along with a holiday medley, as this ride transforms into a seasonal treat. The outside is as astonishing equally the within.

Every 15 minutes, beginning at 5:15pm each twenty-four hours, a holiday projection evidence will calorie-free upwardly the exterior of the attraction for a short show, just lasting a few moments. Information technology's a site to run into. Don't miss it.

Haunted Mansion Holiday – Jack Skellington and friends celebrate Halloween and Christmas all wrapped into ane. Don't miss the gingerbread firm in the main parlor and be certain to detect the fresh baked smells, too.

Snow

Disneyland:

It snows three times most evenings at Disneyland. (Please check the entertainment schedule each day for confirmation on these times, equally they seem to go on changing this year.)

Those times are:

  • 7:30pm – for the first official Sleeping Beauty Castle lighting (lights will dim just before)
  • 8:30pm – for the second castle lighting (lights will dim merely before)
  • After fireworks (that begin at 9:00pm)

For the commencement two events (at the castle lightings), you'll observe snowfall just near the castle.

For the snow after fireworks, y'all'll discover it at the castle, near "information technology's a small globe", on Main Street and near the Rivers of America (might not be happening in 2021). All four of these areas are recommended for viewing fireworks, every bit projections will back-trail the show along with snow falling at the cease.

Note: I recommend – at whatever time of the year – watching fireworks as soon as possible during your Disneyland visit. The bear witness sometimes gets cancelled due to high winds, and then don't save watching fireworks for your concluding nighttime there.

California Adventure:

Beginning at 5:10pm, information technology snows every 10ish minutes in Grizzly Peak on the trail that leads back to Grizzly River Rapids and the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. (Might not be happening for 2021, every bit I haven't seen it on any Disney official posting for the season.)

Holiday Food

The holiday treats around the park are divine!

Go here to review Disneyland's official foodie guide for 2021.

This link has the 2021 guide to Festival of the Holidays including all seasonal food from Disney California Adventure.

I have too listed a few spots in the parks not to miss for holiday yumminess:

Holiday themed Beignets – Find these at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Foursquare. They're Mickey Shaped and totally worth the calories. You're going to walk 10 miles during a 24-hour interval'southward visit anyway. Indulge!

Jolly Holiday Bakery – The Jolly Holiday Bakery is always one of my favorite stops for dining in general, simply their sweet treats during the holidays, including gingerbread men, are so delicious. Be certain to terminate at that place for a bite to eat.

Trolley Treats at California Adventure and Processed Palace Bakery at Disneyland – plus Pooh Corner in Critter State – take many holiday selections for you to enjoy in the parks or to take home.

Festival of Holidays

This part of the commemoration includes entertainment, food, drinks and more than all derived from the many holidays from around the world celebrated during this time of twelvemonth. Disney shares more here.

Don't miss all the succulent nutrient and beverage temptations available. This link shares 2021's menus for booths throughout the park.

Sip and Savor Pass

The Sip and Savor Pass is available for 2021. You lot'll receive a lanyard with 8 tabs to redeem for 8 eligible items at the Festival of Holidays booths. These are very popular with guests, as they let you to wander, snack, drink, and enjoy the culinary side of the holidays.

The cost for all guests is $57.

If you are a Magic Fundamental Holder (Disneyland Annual Pass Holder), you'll pay $52.

Take a Nutrient & Wine Sip and Savor Pass from 2020? Use it.

Disney shares the scoop on this here:

"Have a 2020 Disney California Adventure Nutrient & Wine Festival Sip and Savor Pass with Unredeemed Entitlement Tabs? As a one-time exception, you may utilise your remaining 2020 Disney California Gamble Food & Wine Festival Sip and Savor entitlement tabs for eligible 2021 Disney Festival of Holidays offerings at participating locations. The entitlement tabs must even so be intact and attached to the original 2020 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival Sip and Savor Laissez passer in order to be accustomed.

Or, you tin request to substitution the unused, qualifying entitlement tabs for a Disney Souvenir Card eGift. Do that at this link."

Candy Canes

Candy Canes can be plant at The Candy Palace (Disneyland) and Trolley Treats (California Take a chance). They are serious business, friends.

People line up at each candy shop at park opening to receive a special wrist band entitling them to a unmarried candy cane.

Have a look at my full candy cane postal service everything you need to know including dates for 2021.

009 Santa Claus

There are two options to meet Santa in the parks at the Disneyland Resort until December 24, 2021. Both visits are free and should have PhotoPass photographers on site to take your moving picture professionally. In their absence, snap photos with your telephone.

From 12.26.2021 – 1.1.2022, yous tin can see Santa Goofy in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail area in DCA instead of Santa Claus.

You lot tin can come across Santa in Disneyland in Critter Country at a sweet state setting, as you were able to in previous years. The line is typically longer here than your other option, but the pictures are cute.

Santa at DCA can exist found in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. This set up far exceeded my expectations. Y'all can see Santa hither, observe other characters photo ops, play Elf Games throughout the trail, sign Santa's Nice List and more. I recommend this selection over Disneyland.

Detect lots more on Santa at DCA from my 2017 visit at this link. (Although 2017 feels like a million years ago, the experience is similar to what we take today.)

15037294_1072394209524888_7414972290916840010_nDisneyland Santa is a cute, state fashion. His park times aren't e'er posted, and so check the amusement schedule earlier you visit.

12294807_852595454838099_1337501083840820490_nSanta makes special appearances at the Disneyland Resort Hotels, too.

From mid-November until December 24, 2021, find him at:

  • Disney'southward Paradise Pier Hotel: Crystal Cove Foyer
  • Disney's Grand California Hotel & Spa: Keen Hall (the main lobby)
  • Disneyland Hotel: about the Grand Ballroom (past the Fantasia gift store, en route to the convention middle office of the resort)

Santa meets guests from effectually 4:30pm to eight:30pm, with small breaks throughout. The Santa meet ups at the DLR Hotels are open up to everyone. You don't have to be staying at the hotel.

Times typically increase mid-Dec to encounter more children before Santa heads dorsum to the North Pole.

Carolers also walk the lobby of the Grand Californian singing traditional holiday songs from around 4:30pm to 8:30pm. Love them!

Check out what Santa looks like in each location….

The Disneyland Hotel – perfectly retro, merely similar the hotel:

15171192_1088012494629726_8085546222178479570_n

The Grand Californian Hotel – traditional with such a cute tree behind him:

15241777_1088012561296386_5114203025467100487_n

Paradise Pier – fun and whimsical with a beachy feel:

(That's not Santa. That's my dopey friend, Tyler. Santa hadn't arrived when we visited.)

15181617_1088012607963048_2492452555893659004_n Breakfast with Santa

The Patina Grouping (who oversees Catal, Uva, Naples and Tortilla Jo's in Downtown Disney) hosts the most darling breakfast each yr with Santa.

I encourage y'all to take a expect at what all is included in information technology and book soon if yous're interested. This upshot sells out quickly.

Visit this post for all the details.

A Christmas Fantasy Parade

A Christmas Fantasy Parade – This is one of my accented favorite parts of Holidays at Disneyland. The skating reindeer! The snowmen! The gingerbread men! I could write an entire post on how neat this parade is. Do. Non. Miss. It.

It runs at 3:00pm and 5:30pm most days.

The Plaza Inn hosts a dining parcel that coordinates with this beloved parade. I am a big fan of dining packages, so I'm excited about this fun addition. Check out all near this dining packet in this post.

My favorite place to watch this parade is from Town Square, which is the section at the forepart of the park between the Main Street Railroad Station and Main Street.

For more than info on parades at the Disneyland Resort, click here.

Fireworks

Believe…….in Holiday Magic Fireworks is a big hitting with guests and features traditional Christmas music.

I share all near fireworks at Disneyland with tips on where to watch in this post.

Candlelight Procession

Candlelight Procession will happen Dec 4 and five, 2021. The shows are held at the Disneyland Railroad Station in Town Square and is invite-simply with only a few spots left for those willing to army camp out HOURS prior – if non the day before – to exist part of it.

Disneyland is as well very clandestine well-nigh how all of this comes together, who is invited and how to get part of it.

In 2019, I was invited as a invitee of Disney and it was nothing short of astonishing. I share all nigh that experience hither.

I recommend avoiding the front of the park during these two nights, as the likelihood of getting a seat isn't expert. If you desire to try to catch a glimpse of the bear witness, exist prepared to circumvolve the surface area with other guests as directed by cast members to go on the area condom and secure.

Disneyland Resort Hotels

The Disneyland Resort Hotels are lovely during the holiday season.

Each the three Disneyland Resort Hotels is decked out in vacation decor and if you take the time, I recommend walking over to browse each.

You can find lovely photograph ops, gingerbread houses and more.

New Years Eve

New Year's Eve is crazy, crowded fun. Be ready to dauntless the crowds and bring plenty of patience.

I've done it one time and it was a day I'll never forget. More info coming on this one time Disney shares information technology.

Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney, which is already filled with enough to exercise, turns into a fun place to visit during the holiday season. At that place are holiday decorations throughout and each restaurant has decor, as well.

Catal, located in Downtown Disney, hosts a darling Breakfast with Santa I mentioned earlier with limited availability. Bank check out all the details and volume soon!

The Happiest Place on Earth Just Got Merrier My Suggestions

  • Practise not miss Cars Land. The decor here is so amazing and I've heard outset hand from Disney execs that it's one of their nearly historic creations ever. Pay close attention to the garland as you walk in. It's all fantastic. Santa Mater tin often exist institute merely outside the Cozy Cone Cabin.
  • Choose Santa at California Adventure over Disneyland for both pattern and less wait time.
  • Absolutely do not miss the Christmas parade. Make time for this and schedule your 24-hour interval around it.
  • If yous have to cull 1 vacation treat to indulge in, I recommend the beignets at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square.
  • Slow downward and savor the unabridged park equally a whole. We often get so busy at Disneyland that we miss the details. I try to accept at least 30 minutes during a visit to grab a coffee, walk around, take pictures, and soak up all that I would have missed otherwise while corralling children. Start early on each day and arrive an 60 minutes prior to official park opening. Follow one of my strategies to get LOTS done in the first few hours. Then, have a break in the afternoon and relax. There's so much to see. Enjoy!

2021 Starnes Family Advent Agenda

My family has been creating this agenda since 1977 when my big brother brought it abode from Kindergarten at Christie Elementary in Plano, Texas.

Notes

  • Since we pretty much missed Holidays at the Disneyland Resort in 2020, this year should exist extra special. I'll update this post as nosotros learn more of what's ahead.
